nfused with optimism and olfactive innovation, the fifth addition to the Chance Collection reflects Chanel’s enduring vision of fragrance as an expression of freedom, femininity, and purposeful elegance.
On April 15, Chanel unveils Chance Eau Splendide, the latest chapter in its globally celebrated Chance fragrance collection. Developed by in-house-perfumer-creator Olivier Polge, the scent introduces a new fruit-floral dimension to the brand’s olfactory universe. It also marks the first major fragrance release under Simona Cattaneo, appointed President of Chanel Fragrance and Beauty in late 2025.
A Fragrance of Intention
While Coco Chanel famously saw opportunity as something to be seized rather than stumbled upon, Chance – with its light, joyful spirit – has long redefined the concept of luck as an active pursuit. Eau Splendide is no exception. It builds on the collection’s luminous signature with a formulation grounded in contrast and nuance, conceived by Polge as a vibrant yet refined olfactive experience.
“At Chanel, the creation is really at the heart of everything.”
At its heart is an accord inspired by raspberry, chosen for its ability to carry both a red fruit brightness and a delicate violet-rosy undertone. Geranium roast lead, partly sourced from Chanel’s fields, lends natural floral clarity, while the base is composed of softened cedarwood and transparent musks. The result is a fragrance that’s fresh, textured, and deliberately radiant – an invitation, as Cattaneo puts it, “to become who you want to be”.

A New Chapter for Chance – and Chanel
Launched in 2003, the Chance line has grown into one of Chanel’s most commercially successful fragrance collections, with global presence and generational appeal. Eau Splendide joins a family that includes Eau Fraîche (2007), Eau Tendre (2010), and Eau Vive (2015), each housed in the emblematic round bottle but differentiated by color and composition. For Eau Splendide, violet-hued juice sets the tone—distinct, playful, yet elegant.
The launch coincides with a moment of transition and quiet transformation at Chanel. In her first public remarks since joining the house, Simona Cattaneo emphasized the integrity of Chanel’s creative process, nothing that the maison has had only four perfumes in over a century. “At Chanel, the creation is really at the heart of everything”, she said. “Our fragrances express a vision. It’s not about stereotypes – it’s about giving people the power to become who they want to be”.
Controlled Craftsmanship, Lasting Vision
Chanel’s vertically integrated model allows the house to control every step of its fragrance creation – from rose fields in Grasse, proprietary distillation methods, and exclusive access to select ingredients are just a few of the elements that define Chanel’s artisanal mastery. “This kind of control and traceability is completely unique in the sector”, Cattaneo noted.
More than just a launch, Eau Splendide reaffirms Chanel’s commitment to a philosophy where fragrance is an attitude – an abstract but intentional expression of self. As Polge succinctly put it, “There is something direct, which I like, about Chance”. Eau Splendide brings that directness into a new sensory real – optimistic, assertive, and unmistakably Chanel.
Available from April 15, Eau Splendide will retail at €122 for 50ml and €168 for 100ml in France.
