As promised, #PatekPhilippe has given us a new version of the #Nautilus 5711-1a, which it discontinued earlier this year. The new version (5711/1a-014) has the same stainless steel case and contains the sae movement, but the dial is olive green (the previous one was light blue). And as if to really make up for having axed the most sought - after #watch in the world, Patek also introduced three more new versions of the Nautilus: one with baguette diamonds on the bezel (5711/1300-001); a #rosegold Travel Time Chrono Nautilus (Ref. 5990/1) and a #highjewelry version (7118/1450R-001). What a wonderful way to say you're sorry.

Originally launched in 1976, the Nautilus is distinctive for its ship's portal case and horizontal relief patterned dial. It contains the same caliber 26-330 SC movement that has been powering the Ref. 5711 since 2019, with a silicon #Spiromax balance spring. It is priced at $34, 893.

Adding Baguette cut #diamonds to the bezel is a bold move that raises the Nautilus above the realm of stainless steel sports #watch. There are 32 diamonds totalling 3.6 carats, each one customs cut in a slightly trapezoidal shape instead of the classic rectangle in order to perfectly match the octagonal bezel with the rounded corners. It is priced at $92,624.

The high #jewelry version is even more impressive it its departure from tradition. It is set with 2,553 diamonds (12,69 carats), and it's not as random as it looks. The diamonds on the dial are set between rows of wavy gold bars that simulate the signature Nautilus ribbed dial pattern. Naturally, every diamond is internally flawless. The case 18k rose gold and it priced at $366,667.

The fourth new Nautilus is an 18k red gold, blue - dialed version of the #TravelTimeChronograph, a flyback chrono with two time zones, previously available in steel. It is priced at $106,452.

#VacheronConstantin's Les Cabinotiers atelier produces one - of - a - kind pieces that demonstrate what it takes to be one of the so called 'Holy Trinity' of Swiss watch brands (the other two are #PatekPhilippe and #AudemarsPiguet). It isn't about being the oldest - although Vacheron Constantin, founded in 1755, does have that distinction. It's about the almost obsessive dedication to perfect craftsmanship and the kind of heritage and know - how it takes to experiment with complicated watchmaking concepts and nail it every time.
Case in point: the Planetaria grand complication is fully loaded with a double - axis #tourbillon with a spherical hairspring; 31-day retrograde jumping perpetual calendar with day, date and month; spherical double hemisphere moon phase orbs (one for each hemisphere); 24-hour and day/night indication; leap year; hours and minutes. It was four years in the making, and required four prototypes.
The Armillary double - aixs tourbillon escapement was originally created for the Ref. 57260, the world's most complicated watch (57 complications) created in 2015 to celebrate Vacheron Constantin's 260th anniversary. It has a silicon escape - wheel and a lever with diamond pallets, materials that reduce friction and eliminate the need for lubrication. It was repeated in 2016 in the caliber 1990, and now again for the Planetaria's caliber 9100. The 3D orbiting globes, made of galvanized titanium covered with #gold leaf to represent the continents, were created just for the Planetaria. They rotate in opposite directions to provide day/night indication via a tinted a half crystal placed over each globe, and also indicate 24-hour time, and the orbs serve as moon phase indicators that will require just one corrections every 122 years.
The Planetaria is large - 46 mm wide x 20.20 mm - thick. 'The challenge was to showcase everything within the smallest case size possible', says Christian Selemoni, style and heritage director of Vacheron Constantin. 'We are talking about 745 components. It's quite a compact #watch despite its complexity'. The case and dial components were created within tolerances of fractions of a millimetre.

#Cartier revives the #TankMust, an icon first introduced in 1917 that has been interpreted in myriad variations over the years from entry level to high complication. #Cartier has reworked the design of the #TankMust to include new colored dials with matching straps in burgundy, green and blue, and as a venue for the introduction of a new eco - movement technology called photovoltaic.
The technology involves creating perforations in the dial through the Roman numerals that allow solar energy to reach the photovoltaic cells hidden under the dial. It took two years to develop, along with what Cartier calls the SolarBeat movement, which has an average lifespan of 16 years. Cartier also developed new straps for the model that are composed of about 40% plant matter, produced using waste from apples grown for the food industry in Europe! It's an ecological alternative to calfskin, and will be rolled out across #Cartiercollections in the future.

With nominations set and just over a month until showtime, details are tricking out about the 93rd Oscars and neither sweatshirts not zoom made the cut.

'Our plan is that this year's #Oscar will look like a movie, not a television show', said show producers #JessCollins, #StacySher and #StevenSoderbergh in a statement on Friday.

They've enlisted #Emmy and #TonyAward winning director #GlennWeiss to direct the live broadcast on April 25.

Although considerably scaled down from a normal year, the producers have said they are committed to holding an in - person event at Los Angeles' Union Station for Nominees, presenters and limited guests.

There will also be a live component at the #DolbyTheatre, which has been home to the #AcademyAwards since 2001.

But unlike the #GoldenGlobes, which combined in - person and Zoom elements in its bi - coastal broadcast, the Oscars are not making a virtual element possible for nominees who either can't or don't feel comfortable attending.

The producers said they plan to treat the event like an active movie set with on - site COVID safety teams and testing protocols.

And, yes, they expect attendees to dress up.

'We're aiming for a fusion of Inspirational and Aspirational, which in actual words means formal is totally cool if you want to go there, but casual is really not', producers said.

The #UK announced on Monday that four more countries, including three #Arabstates, will be added to the country's coronavirus 'red list'.

#Travelers from #Oman, #Qatar and #Somalia will be refused entry to the #UK from Friday. People with British or Irish passports, or those with the right to stay long - term in the UK, will be exempt, but will be forced to quarantine in a hotel for 10 days on arrival.

The measures, the British government said, 'will help to reduce the risk of new variants - such as those first identified in #SouthAfrica and #Brazil - entering England'.

The new measures will take effect from 4 A.M. on Friday. The new additions to the list mean that four Arab states are now on Britain's red list: Oman, Qatar, Somalia and the #UAE, which was added in January.
